Essa Rose is a singer-songwriter and violinist who combines orchestration with acoustic pop elements, weaving messages of love and faith to uplift and inspire.
With captivating soundtracks that weave together rich orchestral elements, ethereal layers of strings and vocals, cinematic drums, and mezmerising rhythms, Essa crafts a lush soundscape that blends pop sensibility with the rustic charms of folk, guitars, and a touch of jazz-inspired flair. Her enchanting pop soprano serenades us through the peaks and valleys of journeying from dark to light, reminiscent of the meaning in her paintings.
A Malaysian-Chinese immigrant now residing in Australia, she intertwines the influence of her Asian roots with her Western upbringing into her artistic pursuits, blending traditional approaches in her artistic process and composing techniques to create a harmonious and captivating sound. As a multi-hyphenate artist, she also explores the visual realm through painting, film and dance, portraying themes of her music and creating a captivating interplay of movement, light, colour, and sound.
Her inspiration comes from the solace she finds in nature, insights of her spiritual journey in her Christian faith, and the whimsical dreams of her childhood Disney films. Her favourite artists include Celine Dion, Katie Noonan and G.E.M. With the guidance of New-York based Artist Development and Celebrity Vocal Coach, Cari Cole, and Grammy-Nominated producer and engineer Mike Mangini, she marked her 21st birthday with the release of her debut EP, reflective of the title ‘ Moonlit Metamorphosis’ for stepping into a new stage of life.
